Tagathon 2010

Next up in the SSTP’s tagging events is Tagathon 2010.
This will take place on the 13th and 14th November and run from two usual venues, namely Loch Sunart and Loch Etive.
Tagathon 2010 is part of our ongoing data gathering activity to convince the Scottish Government that the stocks of spurdog and common skate in Lochs Sunart and Etive need to be protected from excessive and unsustainable commercial exploitation to allow them to regenerate and rebuild.
Keep an eye out for updates.

Shark finning a high priority

Europe’s threatened sharks were thrown a lifeline today as the European Council announced their conclusions and priority actions regarding the Community Plan of Action for Sharks.

Spurdog Tagathon

Though the final figures aren’t in yet this weekend saw an incredible number of anglers, a flotilla of boats, the odd kayak or two and some incredible fish.

We’d just like to thank all those who have given their support to the project, those anglers who actually took part and to those in the media who turned up, listened to the issues and who are using their resources to communicate them.
This weekend alone, anglers will have spent over £20,000 of their own money to help us begin the process of …
