This weekend 150 shark experts and delegates from all over the world will attend the annual European Elasmobranch Association (EEA) conference hosted by the Plymouth-based Shark Trust.
The event is held in the UK only once every ten years, and Plymouth and the Shark Trust will welcome world renowned shark researchers and advocates, who will join with young researchers to present the latest in shark research and science.
James Thorburn will be there to represent SSACN’s SSTP interests.
“Plymouth is a centre of marine excellence and home to the Shark Trust, so to host EEA2013 here was an obvious choice,” said Ali Hood, Director of Conservation for the Shark Trust. “By adopting the theme ‘From Science to Policy’ we hope to focus delegates’ minds on how their research can be applied to wider management and conservation goals.”
