Oban – Festival of the sea

Oban is to host a major new 10 day event, celebrating ‘Argyll’s  dazzling marine environment’ and inviting everyone to come and join the adventure.

The Festival of the Sea is a community festival and embraces anything and everything to do with the sea and our expressions of our relationship with it – from marine science, to art, drama, wildlife, history, cuisine, dance, language; it will run from 21st – 31st May.

As part of the festival, there will be a free event at the Corran Halls, Oban on the 25th May from 7.00pm onwards, where Dr Mike Burroes of the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) will give a talk on waves and SSACN’s ‘Sharkman’, James Thorburn will talk about the Scottish Shark Tagging Programme (SSTP).
