The weatherman promised light winds but the North Westerly fresh winds that blew most of the day made it hard going in this year’s SSACN species hunt in Southwest Scotland.
Most of the boats opted for Port Logan and boated some 15 different species – highlighting the wide variety of species available in the area ….. especially when you consider some of those which didn’t make it onto the catch list – Tope, Bull Huss, Spurdog, Conger and Cuckoo Wrasse to name a few.
Winners on the day with 12 species were Tickety Boo with Gordon Goldie and David Grant – Cod, Haddock, Whiting, Coalfish, Pollock, Ballan Wrasse, Plaice, Dab, Launce, Mackerel, LSD and Short Spined Sea Scorpion.
Second place with 11 species was Castaway with Willie Kennedy and Stuart Cresswell – Cod, Haddock, Whiting, Coalfish, Pollock, Launce, Mackerel, LSD, Herring, Grey Gurnard and Short Spined Sea Scorpion.
Third place with 9 Species was G Dot Too with Mark Fishwick, Greig Maxwell and Andy Hibbert – Cod, Coalfish, Pollock, Mackerel, LSD, Dab, Ballan Wrasse, Grey Gurnard and Thornback Ray .
