Yesterday the Scottish Shark Tagging Programme took part in the Tobermory Marine Visitor Centre’s Marine Week. Monday the 4th of August was Shark Day which meant talks, tours and tasty shark cookies! The SSTP had a stand with lots if information about what we do to tag and protect sharks, skates and rays in Scotland. The Isle of Mull is a great area for Sea Angling many of out tagged and recaptured Common Skate have come from near the Island. In fact the Marine Protected Area that we suggested, and rectnyl had accepted, to protect skate will be off the east coast of Mull.

Children, and adults, we fascinated by our example skate and shark eggs. Many didn’t realise any sharks laid eggs. But most of all, lots of fun was had making and decorating (and of course eating) their very own shark shaped cookies.
