Thanks to the incredible support and commitment of our existing volunteers, SSACN has gone from strength to strength over the past few years.
We are always looking for additional volunteers to join in the fun – whatever time you can spare, we can find an activity you can help with.
We’ve outlined some roles below to give you an idea of what we are looking for, but if you have your own ideas, we’ll be glad to discuss.
The main objective of our Outreach Programme is to enthuse and educate people of all ages by instilling a sense of environmental responsibility and commitment to the protection of the marine environment, with a special focus on Scottish near-shore fish stocks. Join in and help deliver our materials to schoolchildren and youth / community groups.
Blog and social media management
Basically the job is to collate material from our volunteers or from other postings on websites and update our two websites and Facebook page. For anyone with the inclination, the role could be expanded to include the operational management and maintaining the integrity of the sites.
SSACN has a wide range of educational materials and promotional media – we are looking for someone to act as a central ‘store’ for these and to despatch them wherever thay are needed – all postage costs etc will be covered by SSACN ! We would also like the volunteer to identify new opportunities to widen the distribution.
SSACN receives many opportunities to contribute to consultation documents created by government departments, NGOs and various other bodies. have you got the patience to read documents and look for things which may potentially affect the nearshore marine environment, fish species / stocks or sea angling – if so we need you.
Whatever your area, we can use you ! We are constantly looking to improve / develop our outreach and educational material, to create original articles for our websites or to research complex issues and find unique ways of communicating the results. Are you a cartoonist ? Can you draw ? Could you be a photo-journalist ?
Just drop a line to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how you can help.
